The Art of Cashmere Care: Tips to Keeping Your Cashmere's New
Cashmere is a luxurious and soft material that requires special care to maintain its quality and longevity. If you want to keep your cashmere jumpers looking new and feeling soft, here are some tips to help you care for them properly.
Wash with care
Cashmere should be washed by hand in cool water with a gentle detergent. Avoid using hot water or harsh detergents as they can damage the fibres and cause them to become rough or scratchy. Gently swirl the jumper in the water and then rinse it thoroughly with cool water until all the soap is removed.
Dry flat
After washing, never wring out or twist the cashmere jumper as it can stretch the fibres and cause them to lose their shape. Instead, gently press the water out of the jumper and lay it flat on a clean towel to dry. Avoid hanging the jumper as it can cause it to lose its shape and stretch out.
Store properly
When storing your cashmere jumpers, always fold them neatly and place them in a drawer or on a shelf. Never hang cashmere as it can cause it to stretch out of shape. Also, be sure to store cashmere in a cool, dry place to avoid any mildew or odours.
Remove pilling
Pilling is a common issue with cashmere jumpers, but it can be easily removed with a cashmere comb or brush. Gently comb or brush the jumper in one direction to remove any loose fibres and restore the softness and smoothness of the material.
Avoid direct heat
Cashmere should never be exposed to direct heat, including hot water, direct sunlight, or the heat of a dryer. This can cause the fibres to shrink or become damaged, leading to a loss of softness and quality.
